Choosing a New Furnace for a Palatine Home
Palatine’s housing ranges from in-town homes and mid-century ranches and split-levels to large two-story homes on the north side near Inverness. In the 1960s and 1970s ranches, limited return air and older ducts are the first thing we check before sizing a new furnace, since a bigger unit on a tight return will short cycle and overheat. On the north side, many homes still have high-efficiency furnaces 20 or more years old, plus zoning and long duct runs to upstairs bedrooms. A replacement there should work with the existing zone board and dampers, and a variable-speed blower often helps the far rooms. Condos and closet installs need a furnace that fits the cabinet space with proper combustion air and return air.
Furnace Installation in Palatine: How It Works
It starts with a free visit to your Palatine home. We measure the house and ductwork, check the venting and gas supply and run a load calculation, then give you written Good, Better and Best Lennox options with rebates and financing laid out. On install day, our own crew removes the old furnace, sets the new one, connects venting, gas, condensate and controls, and tests combustion, temperature rise and airflow before we leave. We register the warranty and walk you through the new thermostat settings.
Repair or Replace Your Palatine Furnace?
A gas furnace usually lasts 15 to 20 years in the Chicago area. A quick check is the $5,000 rule: multiply the furnace’s age by the repair price. If the result is over $5,000, replacement usually makes more sense. If your Palatine furnace is younger or the repair is small, a repair may be the better value, and our Palatine furnace repair team can diagnose it for $75.

Palatine Furnace Replacement FAQs
How much does a new furnace cost in Palatine?
As of October 2026, a new furnace from Pure Comfort costs $3,000 to $9,500 installed in Palatine. Zoning on north side two-story homes, return air limits in ranches and closet fit in condos drive most of the furnace price. Replacing the furnace and air conditioner together costs $8,000 to $19,000, and Nicor Gas rebates of $150 to $225 apply to qualifying 95% and 97% AFUE furnaces.
How do I get a free furnace estimate or quote in Palatine?
Call (708) 515-4822 or book online. We visit your Palatine home, measure the house and ductwork, run a load calculation and give you written Good, Better and Best options with rebates and financing. The estimate is free, and there is no pressure to decide on the spot.
Do I need a permit to replace a furnace in Palatine?
Where a permit is required, we confirm the Village of Palatine’s current requirements and pull the permit, or help you file it in towns where the homeowner applies, then schedule any required inspection.
Should I choose an 80% or a high-efficiency 96% furnace in Palatine?
North side Palatine homes with an existing high-efficiency furnace already vent through PVC, so a 96% unit is the usual pick. In older in-town homes vented into a chimney, we compare the cost of a new PVC route with an 80% furnace on the existing chimney.
How long does a furnace replacement take?
Most furnace replacements in Palatine take one day. Jobs that add return air, new venting or zoning can take a second day. If you are without heat, tell us when you call so we can schedule the install as soon as the equipment is available.
Is there a furnace replacement company near me in Palatine?
Yes. Pure Comfort is based in Streamwood, about 30 minutes from Palatine, and installs furnaces across 60067 and 60074. We are a Lennox Premier Dealer with NATE-certified technicians, and our own crews do every install.
Is it worth replacing a 20- or 30-year-old furnace?
Usually, yes. Most furnaces last about 15 to 20 years in Chicago-area winters. A 20- to 30-year-old furnace is often far less efficient than a new high-efficiency model, parts get harder to find, and heat exchanger problems become more likely. If yours is safe and the repair is small, fixing it can still make sense. In Palatine, we check the furnace and give you both prices so you can decide.
