WORTH CONSIDERING

When Does Complete System Replacement Make Sense?

Complete system replacement makes sense when both the furnace and AC are aging, the AC uses R-22 refrigerant or the old indoor coil would not match new equipment.

  • Both systems are aging together
When the furnace and air conditioner were installed at the same time, they tend to reach the end of their service life within the same few years.
  • Major repairs are approaching
Facing a significant repair on one system while the other is close behind changes the value of doing the work once.
  • Components need to be matchedThe indoor coil, furnace and outdoor unit have to work together within manufacturer requirements, which limits mixed-age combinations.
  • Comfort problems affect both seasons
A home that is uncomfortable in both summer and winter usually has a system-wide issue rather than a single equipment fault.
  • The blower or ducts need changes
Airflow corrections, return-air capacity and duct transitions are far easier to complete while both systems are open.
  • You want coordinated coverageDoing both at once lets you align efficiency levels, controls, registration and warranty coverage across the whole system.
Safety first!
Pure Comfort also compares furnace-only and AC-only options when replacing everything is not necessary.
Our Process

One Design Process for Heating and Cooling

A complete system is planned as one project rather than two replacements that happen to share a date.

  1. Evaluate both loads. We review the home's heating and cooling loads, duct capacity, return air, filter area, venting, electrical circuit, thermostat and comfort concerns.
  2. Match the system. The furnace, indoor coil, outdoor unit and controls are planned together so each component operates within its design range.
  3. Complete the work in-house. Our own crews handle the mechanical, refrigeration, venting, drainage and electrical work the project requires.
  4. Commission both seasons. Furnace temperature rise, cooling airflow, temperature performance, electrical operation, refrigeration procedures, drainage, safety controls and thermostat setup are all verified.
Making the Call

Should You Replace Both Systems or Only One?

Replace both systems when both are near the end of their life or the old coil would not match; replace only one when the other is newer and working well. The recommendation is based on what the house needs, not an automatic package sale.

ONE SYSTEM MAY BE ENOUGH

The other half is newer and still compatible

Replacing one component is the right choice when the remaining equipment is in good condition and can operate properly with the new system.

A COMPLETE SYSTEM MAY BE BETTER

Both sides are near the same age

When compatibility limits the options or major installation corrections can be completed more efficiently together, a full system often delivers better value.

THE FOUR THINGS WE WEIGH

Every recommendation comes down to these, considered together rather than one at a time.
01 / COST

What each scope actually costs

The price difference between a single replacement and a complete system, including the work that only needs doing once.

02 / CONDITION

The state of both systems

Current condition, repair history and how each half is performing through its own season.

03 / COMPATIBILITY

How the parts work together

Refrigerant, coil match, blower capability and control compatibility can limit which combinations are possible.

04 / SCOPE

What the project involves

Duct, venting, electrical and airflow corrections are cheaper and cleaner when completed during a single project.

Why Homeowners Choose Us

A Complete-System Approach

Pure Comfort is a family-owned Streamwood HVAC company founded in 2008. Equipment selection matters, but installation quality remains the priority.

  • Owner-involved design
Gene remains involved in system design and quality control while trained in-house crews complete the installation.
  • In-house crews
One team handles the heating, cooling, electrical and duct work rather than coordinating multiple subcontractors.
  • Certified experience
Lennox Premier Dealer, NATE-certified and EPA-certified experience supports the equipment selection.
  • Verified performance
We confirm sizing, airflow, return-air capacity, filter area, breaker requirements, venting and controls so both systems work together as intended.
WHAT WE INSTALL

Build the Right Heating and Cooling Package

A complete system can combine different furnace stages, blower technologies, AC capacities, efficiency levels and control options. The best package depends on the home’s load, ductwork and the comfort features you value.

Pure Comfort can also evaluate connected upgrades such as filtration, humidity control, zoning and communicating thermostats.

WHAT WE COMPARE FOR YOU

A complete system opens up options a single replacement cannot.

Costs and Options

What Financing, Rebates and Warranties Are Available?

Yes. As of October 2026, complete furnace and AC replacements can qualify for 0% APR Lennox promotional financing on select systems, longer terms with interest on projects over $2,000, utility rebates and Lennox warranties. Manufacturer promotions, utility rebates and tax incentives can change, so current eligibility and terms are confirmed during the estimate.

Coordinating the furnace and AC may also simplify equipment registration and warranty planning. Actual coverage depends on the selected models, registration requirements and labor option.

As a Lennox Premier Dealer, we register your Lennox system warranty and add Lennox ComfortShield extended labor coverage of up to 10 years.

0% APR

Up to 60 Months

On select Lennox systems during Lennox promotions. Terms vary by system, subject to credit approval.

In Your Neighborhood

Whole-Home Planning in Schaumburg

A Schaumburg homeowner chose Pure Comfort after comparing five HVAC proposals because our evaluation included more than equipment. We investigated airflow, checked attic insulation and found damaged ductwork and missing return-air capacity.

The replacement addressed those system conditions instead of repeating them with new equipment. After installation, the homeowner reported a major comfort improvement. It is a strong example of why complete-system planning begins with the house.

Common Questions

Complete HVAC Replacement FAQs

It can make sense when both systems are aging, compatibility is limited or the project requires shared duct, coil, blower or control changes.

Yes, when the remaining equipment is compatible and in good condition. We compare both scopes.

A new system should be sized with a load calculation, not matched to the old unit. The calculation accounts for your square footage, insulation, windows, air leakage and which way the house faces. We don’t just match the size of the old equipment. The same load report sets the heat pump switch-over point on dual-fuel systems.

The furnace or air handler, indoor coil, outdoor unit and controls are selected to operate together within manufacturer requirements.

Yes. Filtration, humidity control, zoning and thermostat options can be evaluated with the main system.

Yes. Replacement estimates are free. For financing, our primary lender is Service Finance, which runs Lennox 0% promotional financing on select systems during Lennox promotions, on approved credit. Longer terms with interest are also available on projects over $2,000 for a lower monthly payment. There are no prepayment penalties.

Every full system replacement follows our 49-point checklist, done by our own W-2 technicians. We never subcontract. It covers:

  • Gas and venting: gas pipe leak check, flue pipe with 3 screws per joint, PVC intake and exhaust pitched and supported correctly
  • Refrigerant: lines brazed with nitrogen flowing, system pressure-tested, vacuum pulled below 500 microns, lines insulated, superheat and subcooling dialed in and recorded
  • Airflow: every duct joint sealed, filter rack with a code-compliant cover, blower speeds, tonnage and DIP switches set for your home
  • Electrical: correctly sized and labeled breaker, new disconnect, correct wire gauge, low-voltage wiring secured and hidden
  • Controls: thermostat programmed and connected to Wi-Fi where supported, refrigerant detection system installed and configured, humidifier set up
  • Testing: supply and return temperatures, temperature split on cooling and every heating stage, condensate trapped, pitched and flowing
  • Finish: equipment leveled, work area cleaned, photos of model and serial numbers, manuals left with you, a walkthrough and your sign-off

Lennox equipment comes with a 10-year parts warranty, and our office registers it for you and emails you the certificate. Pure Comfort adds a labor warranty of 1 to 10 years, depending on the system package, and Lennox extended labor coverage is always available to buy. Every repair comes with a 1-year warranty on parts and labor.

Yes. Pure Comfort is licensed and bonded in every municipality we work in, with our home business license in Streamwood.
