Tankless Water Heater Installation in the Northwest & West Suburbs
Pure Comfort installs Navien NPE-240S2 and NPE-240A2 condensing tankless water heaters sized to your household’s real hot-water demand. Tankless units provide continuous hot water and typically last 15 to 20 years with yearly descaling. Estimates are free, and we handle gas line sizing, PVC venting, condensate drainage and the water connections.
Is a Tankless Water Heater Right for Your Household?
A tankless water heater is a good fit for households that want endless hot water and more floor space, as long as the gas line and venting can support it. Tankless equipment heats water as it is needed, but it is not unlimited in every situation. These are the factors that decide it.
Peak simultaneous demand
Each unit has a maximum flow rate, so showers, fixtures and appliances running at once must be accounted for.
Incoming water temperature
The colder the supply water, the more the unit has to raise it, which reduces the flow it can deliver.
Gas or electrical capacityTankless units often need more input than a storage tank, so the existing supply has to be verified.
Venting requirements
Vent material, route and termination differ from a conventional tank and shape the project scope.
Available space
Tankless equipment frees up floor area, but it still needs clearances, drainage and service access.
Maintenance expectationsWater quality and manufacturer guidance affect flushing and service needs over the life of the equipment.
Safety first! Fuel supply, venting, electrical power, water quality and maintenance all affect the recommendation. Pure Comfort compares the full project rather than pricing only the appliance.
Our Process
How Do We Design and Install a Tankless System?
We design a tankless system around your peak hot-water use, then size the gas line, venting and water connections to match. The goal is dependable hot water under the household’s actual use pattern, not a generic promise of endless supply.
Estimate peak flow. We calculate how much hot water the home needs at once and how much the incoming water must be heated.
Verify the utilities. Gas or electrical capacity, venting, drainage, water lines and equipment location are all checked before selecting a unit.
Complete the installation. Our in-house team handles the utility, vent and water connections required for the selected model.
Start up and walk through. Startup confirms combustion or electrical operation, flow, temperature control, condensate handling and leak-free connections, then we cover controls, service isolation and maintenance.
Keep your tank if it works and you want the lowest cost; switch to tankless for endless hot water, saved space and a 15-year heat exchanger warranty, at $4,500 to $6,500 installed as of October 2026. The conversion may require gas-line, venting, electrical, water-line or drainage changes, so we compare the full project.
ANOTHER TANK IS OFTEN SIMPLER
A straightforward replacement project
Replacing a failed tank with another storage unit is usually the simpler and less expensive path when the existing setup supports it.
TANKLESS CAN BE THE RIGHT FIT
Space, flow and operating goals align
When the household’s priorities match what tankless does well, and the utilities support it, the conversion can be worth the added scope.
THE FOUR THINGS WE WEIGH
Every recommendation comes down to these, considered together rather than one at a time.
01 / COST
The full project, not the appliance
Gas, venting, electrical and water-line changes are part of the real comparison.
02 / DEMAND
Peak simultaneous flow
How many fixtures may run together and what temperature rise is required.
03 / UTILITIES
What the home can supply
Whether gas input, pressure and electrical service meet the unit’s requirements.
04 / MAINTENANCE
Long-term expectations
Water quality and manufacturer guidance affect flushing intervals and warranty conditions.
Pure Comfort has served Streamwood since 2008, building on Gene’s early experience with water heaters and boilers. Our project library includes completed tankless installations in local homes.
Demand calculated first
We size around actual simultaneous use rather than a general household headcount.
Utilities verified
Gas input, pressure, electrical supply and venting are confirmed before equipment is selected.
In-house installers
Our own crews complete the utility, vent and water work on the project.
Service access planned
Isolation valves and future service access are part of the design, not an afterthought.
WHAT WE INSTALL
Flow Rate, Fuel and Control Options
Tankless units vary by fuel, input, maximum flow, efficiency, venting and controls. The correct size depends on how many fixtures may run together and how much the incoming water must be heated.
Some systems can support recirculation or advanced controls, but those features require additional design and may change the installation scope.
WHAT WE COMPARE FOR YOU
The equipment decision depends on demand and utilities together.
We install Bradford White tank water heaters, made in the USA, and Navien condensing tankless water heaters. Here's how the options compare, from a simple tank swap to endless hot water.
Good
Bradford White Atmospheric Tank
The standard natural-draft gas tank. The simplest, most affordable swap when your home already has a chimney or metal vent.
GallonsTank size. Roughly 40 gal for 1 to 2 people, 50 gal for 3 to 4, and 75 gal or tankless for larger families.
Atmospheric (natural draft)Exhaust rises up a chimney on its own. No fan or outlet needed.
Power ventA fan pushes exhaust out through PVC pipe. Needs an outlet nearby.
UEFUniform Energy Factor, the water heater efficiency rating. Higher is better.
GPMGallons per minute of hot water a tankless unit can deliver at once.

In Your Neighborhood
Local Tankless Installation Experience
Streamwood-area homes present different gas, electrical, venting and water-line conditions. A tankless conversion in an older basement can require a different scope from a unit planned during a remodel.
Pure Comfort’s completed tankless projects provide first-hand knowledge of routing, isolation valves, drainage and service access. That experience helps set a realistic project plan before installation begins.
What Your Neighbors Are Saying
Real Reviews. Real Comfort.
When you need HVAC due to an unexpected event you want someone who not only can provide the service you need….
It does not store a fixed tank, but output is limited by flow rate and temperature rise.
Can it run several showers?
It depends on the unit capacity, incoming water temperature and total simultaneous demand.
Will my gas line need an upgrade?
Possibly. Gas input and pressure requirements must be checked for the selected unit.
Does tankless equipment need maintenance?
Yes. Water quality and manufacturer guidance affect flushing and service needs.
Can tankless replace any existing tank?
Often, but venting, utilities, drainage, space and project cost need evaluation.
Is tankless more efficient?
It can reduce standby losses, but actual performance depends on the equipment, use and installation.
How much does a tankless water heater cost?
A tankless water heater typically costs $4,500 to $6,500 installed. Replacing an existing tankless unit is at the lower end. Mounting a new unit on the wall, repiping, running new venting and gas piping changes push the price higher. Water heater projects over $2,000 can be financed with longer terms for a lower monthly payment, subject to credit approval.
What is included with a tankless water heater installation?
Every tankless installation includes removal and disposal of the old water heater, wall mounting the new Navien unit near the existing location, rerouting the hot and cold water piping, a service/isolation valve kit for future flushing, a pressure relief valve with discharge piping, and rerouting the gas piping with a new shut-off valve, union and drip leg as required. We also run new PVC exhaust and vent piping through an exterior wall, a condensate drain to a floor drain and the electrical connection, then commission the unit, leak-test every water and gas connection and clean up the work area. Corroded gas piping is replaced when we find it.
What warranty comes with a tankless water heater?
Our Navien tankless water heaters come with a 15-year limited heat exchanger warranty and a 5-year limited parts warranty from Navien, and Pure Comfort adds a 1-year labor warranty on the installation. The manufacturer warranty is subject to Navien’s terms, conditions and registration requirements, and we help you register the unit.
