Common Furnace Problems in Palatine Homes
Palatine has a wide mix of homes: older houses near the downtown and Metra station, large neighborhoods of 1960s and 1970s ranches and split-levels, townhomes and condos in the south, and larger two-story homes on the north side near Inverness. The furnace problems differ with the home, so we test the whole system before quoting a repair.
In the mid-century ranches and split-levels, limited return air and older ductwork cause many overheating and short-cycling calls. In the larger homes, high-efficiency furnaces 20 years old or more, zoning and long duct runs are more common, and inducer motors, control boards and zone parts lead the repairs.
How a Palatine Furnace Repair Visit Works
Palatine homes vary so much that we test the whole system before quoting any repair. In the 1960s and 1970s ranches and split-levels, we often find limited return air and older ductwork behind overheating and short cycling. In the bigger north side homes, we look at zoning, long duct runs and high-efficiency furnaces that are 20 years old or more. The method holds. The thermostat call starts it, and we follow the sequence through ignition. Then come the safeties, electrical parts, venting, drainage and airflow. We measure before replacing parts. You learn the cause and approve a flat-rate price before work begins. Our trucks are stocked with the common parts, so most furnaces are fixed on the first visit. We repair every major brand, including furnaces put in by other companies, and for most brands we handle the manufacturer parts warranty claim so you pay labor only.
Repair or Replace Your Palatine Furnace?
On Palatine’s north side, many high-efficiency furnaces are now 20 years old or more. That is past the typical range: a well-maintained gas furnace lasts about 15 to 20 years in the Chicago area. Still, age alone does not decide it. Use the $5,000 rule. Multiply the furnace’s age by the repair price. Under $5,000, repair usually makes sense. Over $5,000, get a replacement price alongside the repair quote. A cracked heat exchanger is a safety issue at any age. If replacing is the better path, the in-home estimate is free. Nicor Gas rebates apply to qualifying high-efficiency furnaces. Financing is available, including 0% APR on select Lennox systems during Lennox promotions.

Palatine Furnace Repair Cost and Timing
A typical Palatine furnace repair costs $100 to $700, about $300 on average. Flame sensors, igniters and pressure switches are at the low end. Inducer motors, control boards, blower motors and zoning repairs cost more, and zone parts come up often in the larger north side homes. In the mid-century ranches, airflow is frequently the real fix. You get a written, flat-rate price before work starts.

Palatine, IL 60067 · Oct 20, 2026 · Technician: Gene
The homeowner heard a rough inducer motor and repeated clicking at startup. We ran the furnace through several cycles and checked the inducer motor, pressure switch, gas valve, ECM blower motor and control board. The pressure switch held during our test, but a struggling inducer motor or a clogged condensate trap and hoses can make it drop out mid-cycle. The furnace is heating for now. We are sending repair options for the inducer motor and will clean the drain trap and hoses on the repair visit.

Palatine Furnace Repair FAQs
How much does furnace repair cost in Palatine?
The diagnostic is $75, or $99 evenings, weekends and holidays. Most furnace repairs cost $100 to $700, and about $300 is typical. You approve a flat-rate price before any work starts.
How fast can you get to Palatine?
Our Streamwood shop is about 14 miles from Palatine, roughly 30 to 35 minutes in normal traffic. We answer 24/7 and offer same-day furnace repair when a truck is open.
Only one floor of my zoned home is getting heat. Is the furnace broken?
Not always. A stuck zone damper, a failed zone board or a thermostat problem can leave one floor cold while the furnace runs normally. We test the zoning system along with the furnace.
My condo furnace is in a small closet. Can you work on it?
Yes. We check combustion air, return air and venting along with the furnace, since a tight closet can be part of the problem.
Should I repair a 20-year-old furnace?
Use the $5,000 rule: multiply the furnace’s age by the repair price. Under $5,000, repairing usually makes sense. Over $5,000, it is worth getting a replacement price too. A cracked heat exchanger usually means replacement.
Do you repair furnace brands other than Lennox?
Yes. Pure Comfort is a Lennox Premier Dealer, but we repair all major furnace brands in Palatine, including furnaces installed by other companies.
