Choosing a New Furnace for a Barrington Hills Home
Barrington Hills homes sit on lots of several acres, and many are large custom houses with two or more furnaces, zoned ductwork and finished lower levels. Replacing a furnace here usually means looking at the whole system: how many zones each unit serves, whether the dampers and zone controls should be replaced at the same time, and whether a variable-speed furnace will handle long duct runs better. Some properties run on propane instead of natural gas, so we confirm the fuel and order a furnace set up for it. Guest houses, pool houses, garages and barns often have their own heating, and each building gets its own load calculation so the new furnace fits that space rather than copying the old size.
Furnace Installation in Barrington Hills: How It Works
It starts with a free visit to your Barrington Hills home. We measure the house and ductwork, check the venting and gas supply and run a load calculation, then give you written Good, Better and Best Lennox options with rebates and financing laid out. On install day, our own crew removes the old furnace, sets the new one, connects venting, gas, condensate and controls, and tests combustion, temperature rise and airflow before we leave. We register the warranty and walk you through the new thermostat settings.
Repair or Replace Your Barrington Hills Furnace?
A gas furnace usually lasts 15 to 20 years in the Chicago area. A quick check is the $5,000 rule: multiply the furnace’s age by the repair price. If the result is over $5,000, replacement usually makes more sense. If your Barrington Hills furnace is younger or the repair is small, a repair may be the better value, and our Barrington Hills furnace repair team can diagnose it for $75.

Multiple furnaces, zoning controls, propane conversions and separate outbuilding systems drive most of the price. Do I need a permit to replace a furnace in Barrington Hills?
Permit needs for a furnace replacement in Barrington Hills are reviewed for each project. Where a permit is required, we confirm the Village of Barrington Hills’ current requirements and pull the permit, or help you file it in towns where the homeowner applies, then schedule any required inspection.
Should I choose an 80% or a high-efficiency 96% furnace in Barrington Hills?
Most Barrington Hills homes suit a 96% furnace vented through PVC, which lowers gas or propane bills in large houses. If an older furnace shares a chimney with the water heater, we plan venting so the water heater still drafts well.
How long does a furnace replacement take?
Most furnace replacements in Barrington Hills take one day. Jobs that add return air, new venting or zoning can take a second day. If you are without heat, tell us when you call so we can schedule the install as soon as the equipment is available.
Is there a furnace replacement company near me in Barrington Hills?
Yes. Pure Comfort is based in Streamwood, about 20 minutes from Barrington Hills, and installs furnaces across 60010, 60021 and 60102. We are a Lennox Premier Dealer with NATE-certified technicians, and our own crews do every install.
Is it worth replacing a 20- or 30-year-old furnace?
Usually, yes. Most furnaces last about 15 to 20 years in Chicago-area winters. A 20- to 30-year-old furnace is often far less efficient than a new high-efficiency model, parts get harder to find, and heat exchanger problems become more likely. If yours is safe and the repair is small, fixing it can still make sense. In Barrington Hills, we check the furnace and give you both prices so you can decide.
