What Indoor Air Concerns Are You Noticing?

The most common indoor air concerns are dry winter air, dust, allergies, odors and stuffy or humid rooms. These symptoms can come from several sources and do not point to one universal product.

  • Dust that keeps returning
Filter bypass, return-air leakage, household activity and surface materials can all contribute to persistent dust.
  • Odors that linger
Some filtration or ventilation options may help, but the source of the odor should be identified first.
  • Allergy symptoms indoorsEquipment may reduce certain airborne particles, but no product removes every trigger or guarantees health outcomes.
  • Dry winter air
Low indoor humidity during heating season is a comfort and materials issue that humidity control can address.
  • High summer humidity
A house that feels damp at the setpoint may have sizing, staging or airflow conditions behind it.
  • Rooms that feel staleLimited air movement, return-air paths and ventilation can leave certain spaces feeling closed off.
Safety first!
Filter fit, return-air leakage, duct condition, moisture and equipment runtime can all affect what circulates through the home. The first step is understanding the concern and the HVAC system already in place.
Our Process

How We Evaluate Indoor Air Quality Needs

The goal is to identify where a solution actually belongs before equipment is added.

  1. Understand the concern. We start with the symptoms you are noticing and when they occur, because that narrows the likely cause considerably.
  2. Review the existing system. Filter setup, airflow, ductwork, humidity and the heating and cooling equipment that would support an accessory are all checked.
  3. Identify where it belongs. Some homes need better filtration, others need humidity control or airflow corrections, and some concerns are better addressed at the source.
  4. Explain the limits. We say plainly what the equipment can reasonably improve and where its limits are, rather than overselling the result.
Making the Call

Improve the System or Add an IAQ Product?

Start by fixing the system itself, like airflow, filtration and humidity control, and add an indoor air quality product only when it solves a specific problem. Pure Comfort recommends the simplest practical path rather than stacking accessories without a clear purpose.

FIX THE SYSTEM FIRST

Leaky returns, poor filter fit, moisture

A new air cleaner cannot correct leaky return ducts, a poorly fitted filter rack or moisture entering the home. Those conditions should be identified before adding equipment.

THEN CONSIDER A PRODUCT

Filtration, humidity or ventilation

When the HVAC system is operating properly, filtration, humidity control and ventilation options can be evaluated around the household’s needs.

THE FOUR THINGS WE WEIGH

Every recommendation comes down to these, considered together rather than one at a time.
01 / CAUSE

Where the problem originates

Whether the concern is airborne, moisture-related or entering through a duct or building condition.

02 / AIRFLOW

What the blower can support

Filter size, surface area and airflow capacity determine what the system can handle without restriction.

03 / FIT

Space, power and drainage

Whether there is suitable space, electrical supply, drainage and control compatibility for the equipment.

04 / EXPECTATION

What it can realistically do

A clear picture of the improvement to expect, without health claims the equipment cannot support.

Why Homeowners Choose Us

IAQ Solutions Built Around the HVAC System

Pure Comfort has served Streamwood since 2008. An IAQ product should work with the system without creating unnecessary restriction or maintenance problems.

  • Airflow measured
We consider filter area and static pressure rather than assuming a higher-rated filter is automatically better.
  • Certified experience
NATE-certified, EPA-certified and Lennox Premier Dealer experience with the equipment conditions that affect indoor air.
  • Duct conditions checked
Duct leakage and return-air paths are evaluated because they often matter more than the accessory itself.
  • No unnecessary stacking
We recommend what the home actually needs rather than adding products without a clear purpose.
WHAT WE INSTALL

Filtration, Humidity and Airflow Options

Available solutions may include media filters, electronic air cleaners, humidity-control equipment and ventilation, depending on the home and system.

The right filter is not always the one with the highest rating. Filter size, surface area and airflow capacity determine what the blower can support.

WHAT WE EVALUATE

The right solution depends on the concern and the system supporting it.

Costs and Options

Financing and Product Warranties

In Your Neighborhood

Local IAQ Conditions

Streamwood-area homes include older properties with aging ductwork, newer tightly built homes and houses with basements. Each can create different filtration, humidity and ventilation needs.

Pure Comfort regularly encounters undersized filter areas, return-air leakage and duct restrictions during HVAC work. That field context helps us recommend an IAQ solution that fits the system rather than adding another generic product.

Common Questions

Indoor Air Quality FAQs

It can capture more particles, but the filter must fit correctly and the HVAC system must support its airflow resistance.

Filter bypass, duct leakage, household activity, open windows and surface materials can all contribute.

Some filtration or ventilation options may help, but the odor source should be identified first.

They may reduce certain airborne particles, but no product can remove every trigger or guarantee health outcomes.

Cleaning may be appropriate for visible buildup or specific contamination, but airflow and duct condition should also be considered.

Often, provided there is suitable space, airflow capacity, power, drainage and control compatibility.

When we add it during a furnace or AC replacement, a bypass humidifier is $650 and a fan-powered humidifier is $750. An automatic humidistat with an outdoor sensor, which adjusts humidity as the weather changes so your windows don’t sweat, adds $200.

As a standalone installation, a bypass humidifier is $995 and a fan-powered humidifier is $1,095.

A 5-inch media air cleaner is $400 when we add it during a system replacement, as long as the return drop doesn’t need to be moved. As a standalone installation it costs $795 to $1,195, depending on how much ductwork has to be modified to fit it.

A basic UV light system starts at $495 installed. Multi-technology air purification systems, such as REME HALO-style or APCO X units, can be up to $1,295 installed. The price depends on the system and how it mounts in your ductwork.
