Choosing a New Air Conditioner for a North Barrington Home
North Barrington homes range from older farmhouses to Wynstone estate homes built from the late 1980s on, and larger homes can have three or more systems, attic air handlers and long refrigerant runs. We look at each system on its own and how they work together before recommending which to replace and when. Long line sets often need replacing with the new AC, and attic access affects the install plan.
AC Installation in North Barrington: How It Works
It starts with a free visit to your North Barrington home. We measure the house and ductwork, check the electrical service and condenser location and run a load calculation, then give you written Good, Better and Best Lennox options with rebates and financing. On install day, our own crew recovers the old refrigerant, sets the new condenser and matching indoor coil, replaces or flushes the refrigerant lines as needed, pulls a deep vacuum and charges the system by measurement. We check airflow and temperature split before we leave and register the warranty.
Repair or Replace Your North Barrington Air Conditioner?
Most central air conditioners last 12 to 17 years here. Replacement usually makes more sense when the compressor or coil fails on an older unit, the system still uses R-22 refrigerant, or repairs keep coming back. If your North Barrington AC is younger and the problem is a capacitor, contactor or fan motor, a repair is often the better value, and our North Barrington AC repair team can diagnose it for $75.

Is a two-stage or variable-speed AC worth it in North Barrington?
For North Barrington homes with several zones, two-stage or variable-speed systems handle humidity and part-load days better, especially on upstairs and attic systems.
How long does AC replacement take?
Most air conditioner replacements in North Barrington take one day, including the new condenser, matching indoor coil, refrigerant lines when needed and startup testing. Adding zoning or a ductless head upstairs can add a day.
Is there an AC installation company near me in North Barrington?

Should I replace my furnace and AC at the same time in North Barrington?
If both are about 15 years old or older, replacing them together usually saves on labor and lets us match the new furnace blower to the new AC coil for better efficiency. A furnace and AC replaced together typically runs $8,000 to $19,000 installed. If one system is much newer, we can replace only the one that needs it.
