Choosing a New Air Conditioner for a Lombard Home
Many Lombard homes from the 1950s and 1960s had central air added later, using ducts and returns sized for heating, and many systems here are now 15 to 25 years old. Some still run on R-22, so a leak usually points toward replacement. In split-levels, the upper level often lacks return air and runs warm, which a bigger AC will not fix. We size from a load calculation, match the coil to the furnace and plan return air changes where they help. In townhome and condo communities, condensers sit close together near patios and fences, so we check clearance and airflow around the new unit and confirm it fits the space. Cottonwood clogs outdoor coils here, so placement and service access matter.
AC Installation in Lombard: How It Works
It starts with a free visit to your Lombard home. We measure the house and ductwork, check the electrical service and condenser location and run a load calculation, then give you written Good, Better and Best Lennox options with rebates and financing. On install day, our own crew recovers the old refrigerant, sets the new condenser and matching indoor coil, replaces or flushes the refrigerant lines as needed, pulls a deep vacuum and charges the system by measurement. We check airflow and temperature split before we leave and register the warranty.
Repair or Replace Your Lombard Air Conditioner?
Most central air conditioners last 12 to 17 years here. Replacement usually makes more sense when the compressor or coil fails on an older unit, the system still uses R-22 refrigerant, or repairs keep coming back. If your Lombard AC is younger and the problem is a capacitor, contactor or fan motor, a repair is often the better value, and our Lombard AC repair team can diagnose it for $75.

Lombard AC Replacement FAQs
How much does a new AC cost in Lombard?
As of October 2026, a new air conditioner from Pure Comfort costs $5,000 to $9,000 installed in Lombard, including the matching indoor coil. Tonnage limited by heating-sized ducts and tight condenser spaces in townhome and condo communities drive most AC prices in Lombard. Replacing the AC and furnace together costs $8,000 to $19,000, and ComEd rebates can apply if you choose a qualifying heat pump instead.
How do I get a free AC replacement estimate or quote in Lombard?
Call (708) 515-4822 or book online. We visit your Lombard home, measure the house and ductwork, run a load calculation and give you written Good, Better and Best options with rebates and financing. The estimate is free, and there is no pressure to decide on the spot.
Do I need a permit to replace an air conditioner in Lombard?
Where a permit is required, we confirm the Village of Lombard’s current requirements and pull the permit, or help you file it in towns where the homeowner applies, then schedule any required inspection.
Is a two-stage or variable-speed AC worth it in Lombard?
In Lombard split-levels with a warm upper level, a two-stage AC with a variable-speed blower runs longer at low speed, which evens out the levels and removes humidity. Smaller condos often do fine with a right-sized single-stage unit.
How long does AC replacement take?
Most air conditioner replacements in Lombard take one day, including the new condenser, matching indoor coil, refrigerant lines when needed and startup testing. Adding zoning or a ductless head upstairs can add a day.
Is there an AC installation company near me in Lombard?
Yes. Pure Comfort is based in Streamwood, about 35 minutes from Lombard, and installs air conditioners across 60148. We are a Lennox Premier Dealer with NATE-certified technicians, and our own crews do every install.
Should I replace my furnace and AC at the same time in Lombard?
If both are about 15 years old or older, replacing them together usually saves on labor and lets us match the new furnace blower to the new AC coil for better efficiency. A furnace and AC replaced together typically runs $8,000 to $19,000 installed. If one system is much newer, we can replace only the one that needs it.
