Choosing a New Furnace for a Streamwood Home
Streamwood homes split into two groups when it is time for a new furnace. The 1960s and 1970s ranches, raised ranches and split-levels near Streamwood Boulevard are often on their second or third unit, and the furnace usually sits in a small utility closet or lower-level laundry room. Before sizing a replacement there, we measure the return air, because a bigger furnace on a starved return just trips its limit switch. The 1990s and 2000s townhomes and two-story homes on the west side already have PVC-vented high-efficiency furnaces that are reaching the end of their service life. For those, the choice is about matching the existing vent and drain route, fitting the closet, and deciding whether a variable-speed blower is worth it for a two-story layout.
Furnace Installation in Streamwood: How It Works
It starts with a free visit to your Streamwood home. We measure the house and ductwork, check the venting and gas supply and run a load calculation, then give you written Good, Better and Best Lennox options with rebates and financing laid out. On install day, our own crew removes the old furnace, sets the new one, connects venting, gas, condensate and controls, and tests combustion, temperature rise and airflow before we leave. We register the warranty and walk you through the new thermostat settings.
Repair or Replace Your Streamwood Furnace?
A gas furnace usually lasts 15 to 20 years in the Chicago area. A quick check is the $5,000 rule: multiply the furnace’s age by the repair price. If the result is over $5,000, replacement usually makes more sense. If your Streamwood furnace is younger or the repair is small, a repair may be the better value, and our Streamwood furnace repair team can diagnose it for $75.

Repair visit
“We had a great experience with Pure Comfort Heating and Cooling. Gene Baldassano came out to our home in Streamwood to diagnose a cooling issue and quickly found that it was caused by both a slight fan settings problem, a wiring issue, and also the fact that our cooling system is ancient (more than 25 years old, lol). He explained everything clearly, was completely transparent about what needed to be done, and got it resolved much faster than we expected.”

Streamwood Furnace Replacement FAQs
How much does a new furnace cost in Streamwood?
As of October 2026, a new furnace from Pure Comfort costs $3,000 to $9,500 installed in Streamwood. Return air upgrades in older ranches and closet fit in west side townhomes drive most of the furnace price in Streamwood. Replacing the furnace and air conditioner together costs $8,000 to $19,000, and Nicor Gas rebates of $150 to $225 apply to qualifying 95% and 97% AFUE furnaces.
How do I get a free furnace estimate or quote in Streamwood?
Call (708) 515-4822 or book online. We visit your Streamwood home, measure the house and ductwork, run a load calculation and give you written Good, Better and Best options with rebates and financing. The estimate is free, and there is no pressure to decide on the spot.
Do I need a permit to replace a furnace in Streamwood?
Where a permit is required, we confirm the Village of Streamwood’s current requirements and pull the permit, or help you file it in towns where the homeowner applies, then schedule any required inspection.
Should I choose an 80% or a high-efficiency 96% furnace in Streamwood?
Most newer Streamwood homes already vent through PVC, so a 96% to 97% furnace is the usual choice. In older ranches where the furnace shares a chimney with the water heater, we plan the new PVC route and check that the water heater still drafts properly.
How long does a furnace replacement take?
Most furnace replacements in Streamwood take one day. Jobs that add return air, new venting or zoning can take a second day. If you are without heat, tell us when you call so we can schedule the install as soon as the equipment is available.
Is there a furnace replacement company near me in Streamwood?
Yes. Pure Comfort is based right here in Streamwood and installs furnaces across 60107. We are a Lennox Premier Dealer with NATE-certified technicians, and our own crews do every install.
Is it worth replacing a 20- or 30-year-old furnace?
Usually, yes. Most furnaces last about 15 to 20 years in Chicago-area winters. A 20- to 30-year-old furnace is often far less efficient than a new high-efficiency model, parts get harder to find, and heat exchanger problems become more likely. If yours is safe and the repair is small, fixing it can still make sense. In Streamwood, we check the furnace and give you both prices so you can decide.
