AC Maintenance in the Northwest & West Suburbs

An AC tune-up from Pure Comfort is $99 in our main service area. Our 49-point cooling inspection includes cleaning the outdoor coil, checking the refrigerant charge, testing capacitors and contactors, and clearing the condensate drain. Spring maintenance keeps your air conditioner efficient through hot, humid Chicagoland summers and catches small problems before a July breakdown.

WORTH CONSIDERING

When Is AC Maintenance Due?

Most cooling systems benefit from annual maintenance before summer. Schedule a visit when you notice any of the following.

  • Last year's service was missed
A season without service means coils, electrical components and drainage have gone unchecked through a full summer of operation.
  • Cooling takes longer
Slower recovery on hot days often reflects dirty coils, restricted airflow or components that are no longer performing as they should.
  • Airflow feels weakerReduced air at the registers affects both comfort and equipment life and usually traces back to the filter, blower or duct system.
  • New noises have appeared
Buzzing, rattling or a louder startup are worth checking before the system is under full summer demand.
  • Odors during operation
Musty or unusual smells when the system runs can indicate drainage, coil or filtration conditions worth inspecting.
  • Drainage issuesWater around the indoor unit or a slow drain line should be corrected before it causes damage during a hot stretch.
Safety first!
A tune-up will not prevent every failure, but it can reveal dirty components, worn electrical parts and airflow problems before they become a no-cooling call.
Our Process

What Do We Check During an AC Tune-Up?

A Pure Comfort AC tune-up is a 40-plus point inspection of refrigerant charge, electrical parts, airflow, drainage and the outdoor unit. Each item is marked pass, flag or fail on a written report, and we review the results and any repair quotes with you before we leave.

  1. Thermostat and airflow. We test the thermostat in cooling mode, record the air filter size and condition, and inspect the ductwork and returns for dirt, leaks and airflow problems.
  2. Cooling performance. We measure the temperature split across the indoor coil, which should be 16 to 21 degrees, and inspect the evaporator coil and blower wheel for dirt.
  3. Refrigerant charge. We identify the refrigerant type and metering device, record the high and low side pressures, and measure superheat and subcooling to confirm the system is charged correctly.
  4. Electrical and motors. We check high-voltage connections for burns and pitting, test the capacitors against their ratings, and record blower, condenser fan and compressor amps, including compressor starting amps against the manufacturer’s rating.
  5. Outdoor unit. We rinse the condenser coil and recommend a chemical deep clean when needed, check the surge protector, line insulation, service valve caps, electrical whip and disconnect, and make sure the unit is level.
  6. Drain, air quality and records. We flush-test the condensate drain, check any UV light or air scrubber, photograph model and serial numbers and any issues, place service stickers and reset your thermostat.
Making the Call

Maintenance, Repair or Replacement?

Finding wear during a tune-up does not automatically mean the AC should be replaced.

MAINTENANCE IS THE RIGHT CALL

Operating equipment that needs cleaning and checks

Maintenance makes sense for a system that is running and due for inspection, cleaning and performance verification before the season.

REPAIR IS THE RIGHT CALL

A component that has already failed

A failed part requires diagnosis and repair. Replacement is a separate decision based on condition, history, refrigerant, comfort and expected life.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE FIND SOMETHING

An inspection finding does not automatically become a repair invoice.
01 / MONITOR

Note it and watch it

Some wear is worth documenting now and rechecking next season rather than correcting immediately.

02 / CORRECT

A small fix during the visit

Minor adjustments and corrections can often be handled while the technician is already on site.

03 / REPAIR

A separate scheduled visit

A failed component is quoted as its own repair so you can see the cost before approving anything.

04 / PLAN

Start thinking about replacement

Pure Comfort explains what needs attention now and what can be planned for later.

Why Homeowners Choose Us

Practical Maintenance Without the Sales Pressure

Pure Comfort has served Streamwood since 2008. The goal is to understand how the equipment is operating and give you useful next steps, not manufacture repairs.

  1. In-house technicians.
The same local team handles maintenance, so your system history stays with the people who service it.
  2. All major brands.
We service every major AC brand, including equipment installed by another contractor.
  3. Certified experience.
NATE-certified, EPA-certified and Lennox Premier Dealer experience behind every maintenance visit.
  4. Complete-system view.
We consider the filter, return air, ductwork, thermostat and drainage alongside the cooling equipment itself.
WHAT WE MAINTAIN

Cooling Systems and Controls We Maintain

We maintain central air conditioners from all major manufacturers, including single-stage, multi-stage and variable-capacity equipment.

The service can also account for connected thermostats, indoor coils, furnaces, air handlers and filtration equipment.

WHAT THE VISIT COVERS

Depending on the equipment in the home, maintenance may include.

Costs and Options

What Do Maintenance Plans Include?

Both Comfort Club plans include an annual furnace tune-up and an annual AC tune-up: Basic is $15 a month and Standard is $20 a month. AC maintenance can be scheduled separately or supported through an available HVAC maintenance plan. Current plan benefits and pricing should be confirmed when scheduling.

If the inspection suggests that future replacement planning would be wise, Pure Comfort provides free in-home estimates and financing may be available for qualifying projects.

In Your Neighborhood

Cooling Service for Local Homes

Streamwood-area cooling systems operate through hot, humid summers and a wide range of home layouts. Older duct systems, restricted return air and undersized filters can affect AC performance even when the outdoor unit is in good condition.

Our maintenance approach keeps those local system conditions in view, helping distinguish routine upkeep from a larger airflow or comfort concern.
