Furnace Installation and Replacement in the Chicago Suburbs
As of October 2026, a new high-efficiency furnace from Pure Comfort costs $3,000 to $9,500 installed, based on our own installed pricing, depending on efficiency, staging and venting. As a Lennox Premier Dealer serving Streamwood and the Northwest Suburbs since 2008, we size every furnace with a load calculation, finish most installs in four to six hours and back the Lennox 10-year parts warranty with our own labor warranty.
Replacing a furnace is usually worth it when repairs keep adding up, heat is uneven, it can’t keep up in cold snaps, it has gotten louder, gas bills keep climbing or a major part fails on an older furnace. These are the signs that make a replacement evaluation worth booking.
Repairs are adding up
When repair costs start approaching the price of a new furnace, replacement is usually the better value. A common sign is service calls that used to be rare now arriving every season.
Heat is uneven
Some rooms never reach temperature while others overshoot, even after the filter and vents have been checked.
It struggles in cold snaps
The furnace runs almost constantly during a deep freeze and still cannot hold the temperature you set.
It has got louder
New rumbling, whistling or blower noise that was not there in previous winters, and does not settle down.
Energy use keeps climbing
Gas bills rise while comfort stays flat, which usually means the furnace is working harder for less heat.
A major part failed late
A costly component fails on equipment already near the end of its expected service life.
Safety first! These symptoms do not automatically require a new furnace. A repair, maintenance visit or airflow correction may still be the better answer. Pure Comfort evaluates the system before recommending a direction.
Our Process
How Does Our Furnace Installation Process Work?
Our furnace installation process has four steps: evaluate the home, install and adapt, verify the numbers and walk you through the system.
Evaluate the home. We review heating demand, supply and return ducts, filter sizing, venting, gas, electrical conditions and thermostat compatibility.
Install and adapt. Our in-house crew prepares the installation, completes the necessary duct transitions and configures the blower and controls.
Verify the numbers. Before closeout we check temperature rise, airflow, safety operation, venting, drainage and thermostat performance.
Walk you through. The final walkthrough covers system operation, filter changes, maintenance intervals and applicable warranty information.
We weigh condition, history, comfort, warranty and airflow rather than going by age alone.
REPAIR MAY BE PRACTICAL
A dependable furnace with one correctable fault
Repair is the practical choice when the furnace has been reliable and the problem is limited to a single component that can be properly corrected.
REPLACEMENT MAY BE BETTER
A major repair among several concerns
Replacement offers better long-term value when a costly repair is only one of several issues, alongside comfort, noise or airflow problems.
The Four Things We Weigh
Every recommendation comes down to these, considered together rather than one at a time.
01 / CONDITION
Equipment condition and history
How the furnace has held up, and whether this failure looks isolated or like the first of several.
02 / COMFORT
Comfort, noise and airflow
Whether the system actually heats the house evenly and quietly, or has been a compromise for years.
03 / Warranty
Warranty coverage still active
Parts or labor coverage still in force can change the math, so we check before quoting anything.
As a Lennox Premier Dealer, we register your furnace warranty and add Lennox ComfortShield extended labor coverage of up to 10 years.
04 / TIMING
Whether to include the AC
If the air conditioner is a similar age, replacing both together can cost less than two separate projects.
You receive the reasonable options without being pushed toward the most expensive system. Repair may still be the answer. See Furnace Repair.
Why Homeowners Choose Us
A Furnace Designed for the Home
A premium furnace cannot overcome a poor installation, so we design around the house rather than matching the old nameplate.
Local and family-owned
Founded in Streamwood in 2008 and still run by the family who started it, not a national chain.
Gene stays involved
The owner handles system design, sales and quality control himself rather than passing it to a commission rep.
Certified in-house crews
Lennox Premier Dealer experience with NATE and EPA Section 608 certifications. No subcontracted installation crews.
System-first installation
Access, return air, filter area, duct transitions, venting and commissioning all get attention, not just the box.
COMPARE THE OPTIONS
Compare Furnace Options Without Guesswork
Furnaces can use single-stage, two-stage or modulating heat, paired with different blower and control options. The right combination depends on the home’s load, duct capacity, comfort expectations, noise preferences and budget.
Pure Comfort primarily installs Lennox equipment and can compare efficiency, staging, blower performance, controls and warranty coverage in plain language.
What We Compare
The trade-offs that actually change how the furnace performs
What Financing, Rebates and Warranties Are Available?
Yes. Qualifying furnace projects can use Lennox promotional financing, Nicor Gas rebates and Lennox manufacturer warranties backed by our own labor warranty. Service Finance is the primary source used for Lennox promotions, with other options available when appropriate.
Rates, terms and rebate amounts change, so we confirm what applies to the selected equipment before you decide. New equipment is registered when applicable, and actual warranty coverage depends on the model, manufacturer requirements and selected labor coverage.
On select Lennox systems during Lennox promotions. Terms vary by system, subject to credit approval.

In Your Neighborhood
Thorough Planning Made a Difference in Schaumburg
A Schaumburg homeowner compared five HVAC quotes before choosing Pure Comfort because our evaluation went beyond the equipment. We checked attic insulation, investigated airflow complaints and identified damaged ductwork and missing return-air capacity.
The final project corrected those system conditions along with the replacement. After installation, the homeowner reported a major improvement in comfort. That is the value of designing around the home rather than simply matching the old furnace.
What Your Neighbors Are Saying
Real Reviews. Real Comfort.
When you need HVAC due to an unexpected event you want someone who not only can provide the service you need….
Your home needs a furnace sized by a load calculation, not one matched to the old unit. The calculation accounts for square footage, insulation, windows, air leakage and which way the house faces.
An oversized furnace short-cycles, heats unevenly and wears out sooner.
Can a furnace be too large?
Yes. Oversizing can cause short cycles, uneven temperatures, added noise and unnecessary component stress.
How long does replacement take?
A furnace-only replacement usually takes 4 to 6 hours. A full furnace and AC replacement takes 7 to 10 hours, depending on crew size and add-ons. Either way, we finish in one day, so you have heat or cooling again that same day.
Will my thermostat work with the new furnace?
It may. Compatibility depends on staging, blower controls, wiring and the features you want to use.
Should I replace the furnace and AC together?
Not always. We can compare furnace-only and complete-system options based on the age, condition and compatibility of both systems.
Will a new furnace lower my bills?
Efficiency can improve, but actual results also depend on sizing, airflow, insulation, thermostat use and weather.
How much does a new furnace cost?
As of October 2026, Pure Comfort’s installed price for a new furnace is $3,000 to $9,500. The low end is a 45,000 BTU, 80% efficiency furnace; the high end is a 135,000 BTU Lennox SLP99V modulating furnace. Your price depends on the size your home needs, the efficiency, and any venting or gas-line changes. Replacing the furnace and AC together costs $8,000 to $19,000.
What's included when Pure Comfort installs a new furnace?
Every Pure Comfort furnace installation includes a load calculation, our 49-point installation checklist, haul-away of the old furnace, a final walkthrough and Lennox warranty registration. Checklist highlights:
A gas leak check, and the furnace installed level
PVC intake and exhaust pitched and supported correctly, with 3 screws per joint on metal flue pipe
All duct joints sealed
The condensate drain trapped, pitched and tested
A filter rack with a code-compliant cover
Blower speeds, tonnage and DIP switches set for your home
Temperature readings on every heating stage
The thermostat programmed and connected to Wi-Fi where supported
The old furnace is hauled away. You get a walkthrough before we leave, and our office registers your Lennox warranty and emails you the certificate.
Is a 96% efficient furnace worth it over an 80%?
In Northern Illinois, usually yes. A 96% furnace turns 96 cents of every gas dollar into heat, compared with 80 cents for an 80% furnace. With our long winters, that adds up. High-efficiency furnaces vent through PVC pipe and need a condensate drain, so the price depends on your venting. We quote both options when they fit your home.
How often should a new furnace be serviced?
Once a year, ideally in early fall before the heating season. A yearly tune-up keeps a new furnace running efficiently and catches small problems early. Both of our Comfort Club plans include an annual furnace tune-up and an annual AC tune-up, starting at $15 a month.
Is it worth replacing a 30-year-old furnace?
In most cases, yes. A gas furnace usually lasts 15 to 20 years in the Chicago area, so a 30-year-old unit is well past its expected life. Older furnaces often run at 60% to 80% efficiency compared with 96% or more for a new high-efficiency model, parts are harder to find, and the risk of a cracked heat exchanger goes up. If yours is still safe, we will tell you honestly whether a repair buys you real time.
What is the $5,000 rule for furnaces?
Multiply the furnace’s age by the repair price. If the total is over $5,000, replacement usually makes more sense than repair. For example, a $350 repair on a 16-year-old furnace equals $5,600, so replacing is worth pricing out. It is a rule of thumb, not a hard cutoff, and we always give you both options in writing.
What is the best time of year to buy a new furnace?
Late spring, summer and early fall are usually best. Installers have more open days, you are not forced into a rushed decision during a cold snap, and manufacturer promotions often run in the spring and fall. If your furnace is 15 years or older, getting a free estimate before winter gives you time to compare options.
Are furnace prices going up in 2026?
Equipment prices have gone up most years recently as manufacturers raise prices, so waiting rarely saves money. Today, a new furnace installed by Pure Comfort typically costs $3,000 to $9,500, depending on efficiency, size and venting. Nicor Gas rebates of $150 to $225 and financing can lower the cost. A free in-home estimate gives you an exact written price.
