Choosing a New Furnace for a Carol Stream Home
Carol Stream grew from the 1960s through the 1990s, so we replace furnaces in ranches and split-levels that are on their second or third unit, and in 1980s and 1990s two-story homes whose high-efficiency furnaces are now 25 to 35 years old or already replaced once. In the older homes, we check that the return air and filter cabinet can support a modern furnace, because restricted airflow is the main reason replacement furnaces overheat. In the newer two-story homes, a two-stage or variable-speed furnace usually solves uneven temperatures between floors. Carol Stream also has many townhome communities with closet furnaces and long vent and condensate runs. We measure the closet and plan the venting before quoting, and we protect the condensate line from freezing in the exterior wall.
Furnace Installation in Carol Stream: How It Works
It starts with a free visit to your Carol Stream home. We measure the house and ductwork, check the venting and gas supply and run a load calculation, then give you written Good, Better and Best Lennox options with rebates and financing laid out. On install day, our own crew removes the old furnace, sets the new one, connects venting, gas, condensate and controls, and tests combustion, temperature rise and airflow before we leave. We register the warranty and walk you through the new thermostat settings.
Repair or Replace Your Carol Stream Furnace?
A gas furnace usually lasts 15 to 20 years in the Chicago area. A quick check is the $5,000 rule: multiply the furnace’s age by the repair price. If the result is over $5,000, replacement usually makes more sense. If your Carol Stream furnace is younger or the repair is small, a repair may be the better value, and our Carol Stream furnace repair team can diagnose it for $75.

Carol Stream Furnace Replacement FAQs
How much does a new furnace cost in Carol Stream?
As of October 2026, a new furnace from Pure Comfort costs $3,000 to $9,500 installed in Carol Stream. Return-air upgrades in older ranches and split-levels and closet installs in townhomes are the biggest price variables. Replacing the furnace and air conditioner together costs $8,000 to $19,000, and Nicor Gas rebates of $150 to $225 apply to qualifying 95% and 97% AFUE furnaces.
How do I get a free furnace estimate or quote in Carol Stream?
Call (708) 515-4822 or book online. We visit your Carol Stream home, measure the house and ductwork, run a load calculation and give you written Good, Better and Best options with rebates and financing. The estimate is free, and there is no pressure to decide on the spot.
Do I need a permit to replace a furnace in Carol Stream?
The Village of Carol Stream publishes a permit handout specifically for central air conditioning and furnace systems that lists what a complete application needs. We put that application together, file it with the Village and schedule the inspection for your new furnace.
Should I choose an 80% or a high-efficiency 96% furnace in Carol Stream?
Most Carol Stream homes already vent through PVC, so a 96% to 97% furnace is the usual choice. Older homes still on a chimney get pricing for both options so you can compare.
How long does a furnace replacement take?
Most furnace replacements in Carol Stream take one day. Jobs that add return air, new venting or zoning can take a second day. If you are without heat, tell us when you call so we can schedule the install as soon as the equipment is available.
Is there a furnace replacement company near me in Carol Stream?
Yes. Pure Comfort is based in Streamwood, about 20 minutes from Carol Stream, and installs furnaces across 60188. We are a Lennox Premier Dealer with NATE-certified technicians, and our own crews do every install.
Is it worth replacing a 20- or 30-year-old furnace?
Usually, yes. Most furnaces last about 15 to 20 years in Chicago-area winters. A 20- to 30-year-old furnace is often far less efficient than a new high-efficiency model, parts get harder to find, and heat exchanger problems become more likely. If yours is safe and the repair is small, fixing it can still make sense. In Carol Stream, we check the furnace and give you both prices so you can decide.
